This is the first of three lessons that use a short biography of Amelia Earhard as a starting point for the music exercises. The Earhart biography is a suggested starting point for this lesson. You can replace a piece of literature for the selected selection. Or you can provide additional note practice by repeating this lesson with a variety of content-rich, topic-related reading material.
In this lesson, students who group a read-out selection practice. To start asking the students What is summarized? Why is it able to summarize an important ability? If the ability to summarize could come particularly practical? Lead students to talk about how summarizing it means to select essential details and important ideas or topics in an article, a piece of literature or a speech, and then these ideas write their own words. The students could mention that the summary is a helpful ability to be writing a report; That it is important to write reports to store information and ideas in their own words, rather than copying (plagiarizing, cheating) chunks of the text of another.
At the beginning of the lesson, tell the estimates: I will read a short biography of Amelia Earhard, the first woman who should fly over the Atlantic [or replace a brief description of the text you want ].
